Propercorn makes gluten-free, award-winning popcorn and was founded in 2011 by Cassandra Stavrou and Ryan Kohn. The brand sells more than three million bags per month and sales are forecast to rise from £10m in 2015 to around £15m this year. Its first customer was Google’s London café, and the product is now sold in 10 overseas markets with strong demand in Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland. The company employs 40 staff at its London office. After more than five years of mentorship from the innocent founders, Propercorn has secured external funding to accelerate UK and international growth. The new backing is intended to support the brand’s global expansion and commercial scaling.
