QuadSAT

Lufthavnvej 151, Odense N, Syddanmark, 5270, Denmark

Overview

QuadSAT is a Danish startup that equips quadcopter drones with custom radio-frequency payloads and flight-automation software so they can act as stand-ins for satellites, enabling antenna calibration and performance testing outside laboratory conditions. Operators such as OneWeb and ESA’s European Space Operations Centre have already used the solution to verify gateways and antennas as large as 15 meters. By removing the need for a visible GEO satellite or fixed beacons, the technology simplifies testing in polar regions and other challenging sites. QuadSAT currently provides the capability as a service, sending its own technicians to customer locations, but it is developing a ready-to-fly kit that customers can operate independently. The new product is intended to make drone-based testing more widely available and easier to scale. To date, the company has raised roughly $5 million, including multiple non-dilutive grants from the European Space Agency. QuadSAT expects to seek additional funding to expand operations after launching the productized system.
