Overview
QuickMobile is a Vancouver-based provider of mobile solutions that builds branded mobile apps for meetings and events. Led by President and CEO Patrick Payne, the company partners with meeting owners and organizers to develop apps that act as catalysts for year-round conversations with constituents. Its solutions aim to create always-on communications channels that allow event owners to extend their brand and interactions with customers, partners, stakeholders and employees beyond the days and locations of an event. The company recently closed on a $3.3M funding round following $2.6M of investments received in 2011. QuickMobile intends to use the capital to expand internationally, strengthen its infrastructure, boost marketing efforts and advance the development and launch of new products and services. As part of the financing, a partner from the lead investor will join the company’s board. QuickMobile develops interactive mobile event guides that attendees can download to their mobile devices or access via a mobile-friendly website. Its apps provide attendee lists, conference agendas, sponsor and speaker information, social networking, media galleries, conference materials, venue maps, location-based services, sponsorship monetization, and gamification features. The company offers one-time event apps and apps for event series and counts clients such as the World Economic Forum, Accenture, Google, Microsoft, SAP, Intel, Cisco, Dell, Hilton, and Disney. QuickMobile experienced rapid operational growth, expanding from 12 to 60 employees, developing 45 apps last year and more than 300 apps so far in 2011, and achieving over one million downloads; revenue figures are not publicly shared. It was ranked the 12th fastest growing company in British Columbia by Business in Vancouver and highlights sustainability benefits—one customer eliminated 90,000 printed pages and became 100% paperless. The company will use the new funding to broaden the scope of its AI, including new administrative tasks. QuickMobile develops customized mobile apps and mobile websites for conferences, festivals and corporate events, offering features such as social media tools, real-time content updating, analytics, personal scheduling and rich media. The company emphasizes bespoke implementations rather than templated solutions, having built apps for Dreamforce (Android, BlackBerry, iPhone with Salesforce Chatter), Tribeca (iPhone app and HTML5 mobile site) and Sundance (iPhone). Its client roster includes Accenture, Cisco, Dell, Disney, World Economic Forum, GBTA, Google, Hilton, Intel, Microsoft, PhocusWright and SAP. QuickMobile cites a large addressable market—205 million people attend 1.8 million meetings annually in the U.S., and under a tenth of those events offer interactive mobile applications. The company says it is on pace to record a 500% increase in bookings versus 2010. The new funding will be used to support new product development and to expand internationally.
