RateX provides a free browser extension and a recently launched mobile app (RateS) that automatically offers shoppers the lowest exchange rate with no transaction fee and can apply coupon codes at checkout. The extension integrates with major e-commerce and travel platforms including Amazon, TaoBao, Lazada, Singapore Airlines, AirAsia and Expedia, and works with payment processors such as Adyen and Alipay. Led by CEO and co-founder Jake Goh, the product is available on Google Chrome and Firefox desktop browsers and is operational for users in Singapore. The company raised funding to support product launches and regional expansion. It intends to use the funds to launch its mobile app in Singapore and Taiwan in March 2018 and to expand into Taiwan and Indonesia later in 2018. RateX is supported by industry advisors including Yinglan Tan and Chandra Tjan.
