Ready Player Me

Overview
Ready Player Me offers an SDK and API that produce real-time animated avatars—generated from a single 2D photo or 3D images—for desktop, web and mobile. The technology traces eight years to Wolf3D and leverages a proprietary database of more than 20,000 face scans and deep-learning models. The platform already handles about 5 million avatars across roughly 3,000 partners, including VRChat, Spatial, Somnium Space, RTFKT and customers such as Adidas, New Balance, Dior, Pull&Bear and Warner Brothers. The company plans to use new funding to continue hiring (it has offices in NYC), expand developer tools (including monetization features) and build more services for creators. Ready Player Me emphasizes interoperable identity and cross-environment avatar assets as a way to improve user experience and drive broader adoption across fragmented virtual worlds. Ready Player Me offers a connective passport for the metaverse, giving consumers an avatar they can use not only in one world but to travel across many virtual platforms. Led by CEO Timmu Tõke, the platform is used by 900+ companies, including VRChat, Somnium Space, Verizon, and Hiberworld, and has brand partnerships with Warner Brothers, Dior, and New Balance. The company has also collaborated with Deadmau5, Pixelynx, and artist Smearballs to bring the Head5 NFT collection to the platform. Ready Player Me plans to continue global growth and establish itself as the default avatar system for the metaverse. It intends to invest in building monetization tools to help game developers sell NFTs and in-game avatar customization assets. The company recently closed a $13M Series A to support these initiatives. Wolfprint builds pod-shaped 3D body scanners that produce full-body avatars for use in video games, VR and digital art. The company plans to place scanning pods in high-traffic public locations such as airports and malls to broaden consumer access. Wolfprint has already scanned roughly 5,000 people, demonstrating early consumer interest. Each scanner costs about $8,000 to purchase and is estimated to generate roughly $50,000 in annual revenue. The startup claims partnerships with Nike and Paramount are in the works, which could expand commercial use cases. Wolfprint aims to monetize both direct scans to consumers and potential brand partnerships.
