Callosum’s platform sits between applications and hardware, decomposing AI inference workloads, matching sub-tasks to specialised models and processors, and routing execution to the most suitable hardware to balance speed, cost and precision. The company claims up to 4x speed improvements, 70% lower compute costs and a 10% higher task success rate on complex agentic financial workloads compared with running a single frontier model on conventional GPUs. A family of tailored inference APIs is being launched, with some APIs already in production for complex workloads in financial services. Callosum works with a range of silicon and infrastructure partners — including Cerebras, Rebellions, Axelera, Tendrils and Supermicro — and is a founding member of ARIA’s Scaling Inference Lab. The startup was founded by Danyal Akarca and Jascha Achterberg, who met while doing PhDs at Cambridge, and plans to use the new funding to scale the technology, deepen ecosystem partnerships and grow the team.

Ore Energy develops long-duration batteries built from iron, water and air that the company says can store electricity for up to 100 hours. Its chemistry is designed to be manufactured through a fully European supply chain and to avoid reliance on imported critical raw materials such as lithium or cobalt. The startup has signed a major long-duration energy storage system deal with Dutch energy supplier Budget Thuis and aims to commercialise its technology at scale. The company plans to use the proceeds of its recent funding to establish its first manufacturing facility. Financially, Ore Energy has raised a total of $61 million following the $43 million Series A. The company frames its product as addressing a key bottleneck for renewables and industrial growth by providing extended-duration storage capacity.

Founded in London by James Dacombe in 2024, Olix develops the X-1 platform that distributes AI model workloads across specialised chips connected by an optical interconnect. Its first chip, the DX-1, is a decode accelerator that the company claims can deliver over 10,000 tokens per second per user on 100-billion-parameter models while using less power for large batches, and is designed to scale to models with trillions of parameters. Olix has over 140 employees across London, Bristol, Toronto, Austin and San Francisco. The company plans to launch DX-1 to initial customers in the second half of 2027 and to ramp platform development and chip manufacturing with the new funding. Olix has rapidly increased its valuation through multiple funding rounds, most recently reaching $3.3 billion after the $312 million raise, up from just over $1 billion in February. The AI chip market in which Olix competes was valued at about $84 billion in 2026 and is expected to grow rapidly through 2030.

Monumental builds electric autonomous bricklaying robots paired with an AI platform called Atrium that use advanced sensors, computer vision and cranes to lay bricks and mortar with millimetre precision. The company offers an outcome-based construction service where contractors pay for completed walls rather than purchasing or operating equipment. Monumental operates a fleet of more than 150 robots across projects in the Netherlands and the UK and has helped construct over 100 homes plus a school, community centre, a hotel and canal walls. Nearly half of those homes were completed in the three months preceding the funding, indicating a rapid ramp in deployment. The company has recently strengthened its UK presence with a dedicated country manager and expanded local team, and is preparing its first pilot projects in the US as part of its international expansion plans. The Series B proceeds are earmarked to hire more engineers, scale deployments across Europe and the UK, broaden robotic capabilities, and support US entry.

Proxima Fusion is Europe’s leading stellarator company and the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, developing commercial fusion power plants using the QI-HTS stellarator concept. The company is building Alpha, a net-energy stellarator demonstrator targeted for the early 2030s, and plans a follow-on commercial plant called Stellaris later in the decade. Proxima leads the Alpha project in partnership with the state of Bavaria, the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics and industrial partners including RWE, supported by an Alpha Alliance of more than 50 companies. Headquartered in Munich with offices in Zurich and Oxford, Proxima employs around 200 people across engineering, science and operations. Financially, Proxima has secured more than €650 million in funding to date, including about €95 million in public grants, and plans to expand engineering, manufacturing and magnet production capabilities as it advances toward demonstrator completion.
