  • Proxima Fusion

    Proxima Fusion is Europe’s leading stellarator company and the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, developing commercial fusion power plants using the QI-HTS stellarator concept. The company is building Alpha, a net-energy stellarator demonstrator targeted for the early 2030s, and plans a follow-on commercial plant called Stellaris later in the decade. Proxima leads the Alpha project in partnership with the state of Bavaria, the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics and industrial partners including RWE, supported by an Alpha Alliance of more than 50 companies. Headquartered in Munich with offices in Zurich and Oxford, Proxima employs around 200 people across engineering, science and operations. Financially, Proxima has secured more than €650 million in funding to date, including about €95 million in public grants, and plans to expand engineering, manufacturing and magnet production capabilities as it advances toward demonstrator completion.

    Stenon's core product, FarmLab, combines proprietary optical and electrical sensors, AI, agronomic models and cloud software to generate real-time soil data directly in the field. The company uniquely measures nitrogen available to the plant (Nmin) at scale in-field and couples that with SOC and other soil parameters to inform fertilization decisions. Customer case studies across multiple countries report economic impacts including 20%–40% savings on nitrogen fertilizers and 2%–8% increases in productivity for crops such as maize, beans, cotton, sugarcane, coffee, grains and vegetables. Stenon sells to distributors, retailers, cooperatives, agribusiness groups, equipment dealers and consultancies and reports deployments across commercial areas totaling millions of acres. Near-term plans include expanding commercial operations (with Brazil as a central market), improving regional calibration and localization, and evolving FarmLab into a continuous, machine-integrated nutrient intelligence platform. The company is investing in further sensor, model and platform development as part of its growth strategy.

  • NUCLIDIUM

    NUCLIDIUM focuses on copper isotopes for radiotheranostics, using copper-61 for imaging and copper-67 for therapeutic applications. Its lead programs are NU101 for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and NU201 for metastatic breast cancer, both slated to begin therapeutic phase 1/2a trials this year. The company reports that diagnostic phase 1/2 trial data to date show strong momentum, according to CEO and co-founder Leila Jaafar. NUCLIDIUM operates sites in Basel and Munich and is currently in the clinical development phase. It plans to expand its international production and manufacturing network for diagnostics and therapy and to develop new target structures in preclinical work to address additional solid tumor types.

    LiveEO develops satellite-based monitoring systems and analytics to track risks along linear infrastructure corridors, including pipelines, railways, and power lines. Its Twinspector project is a dual-satellite constellation designed to capture high-resolution and three-dimensional imagery tailored to long, narrow infrastructure routes. The company intends Twinspector data to integrate with its existing analytics platforms to help operators detect threats like unauthorized construction, excavation, and vegetation encroachment earlier. LiveEO is developing the system with European partners and positions the project as part of expanding commercial Earth observation capabilities for infrastructure monitoring. The company’s current disclosed financing activity includes ESA program funding through the InCubed program to support Twinspector’s development.

  • UniverCell

    Founded in 2019 in Kiel, Germany, UniverCell develops and produces lithium-ion battery cells and electrodes, emphasising high performance and specialised use cases. The company operates a gigafactory in northern Germany with production capacity that can scale beyond 1.5 GWh and currently employs more than 82 people. Its in-house mastery of electrode manufacturing and cell assembly includes 21700 cylindrical cells with a tabless design, lightweight aluminium housings, and a process-stable formation step that drives battery performance. A key differentiator is its industrial dry-coating process, which reduces energy consumption, chemical usage and CO₂ emissions while improving energy density, charging capability and cycle life. All anodes and cathodes are produced internally, enabling high reproducibility, low scrap rates and quick changeovers for customer-specific projects. Looking ahead, UniverCell intends to leverage new capital to expand production capacity further and refine its proprietary electrode and cell technologies, reinforcing Europe’s independent and sustainable battery supply chain.
