Overview
RoboK develops computer-vision software that upgrades conventional CCTV into proactive tools for real-time hazard detection and operational insights at ports and warehouses. The company was spun out of the University of Cambridge and was founded by Hao Zheng in 2017. Its PALLETS project blends AI with existing surveillance to identify risks, optimise workflows, and build trust in automated solutions. Early results from partner sites such as the Port of Dover and Bristol Port have been described as very positive. RoboK aims to lower barriers to AI adoption in logistics by delivering ethical, reliable systems under the UKRI-backed programme. The PALLETS initiative runs through March 2025 and involves a consortium of industry and academic partners. RoboK develops proprietary, privacy-preserving computer vision software that unlocks value from existing industrial CCTV cameras to deliver actionable insights for safety, productivity and throughput. The company is focused on industrial infrastructure use cases—starting with ports—and works with large critical infrastructure operators. Its solution is positioned as cost-effective, configurable, and capable of providing robust AI insights at scale. RoboK plans to use new funding to accelerate commercial expansion, expand its presence in industrial sites including ports, and hire additional commercial and product roles. The company has also secured grants from InnovateUK and the Department for Transport to support its work. To date RoboK has raised a total of $4.0M.
