Overview

Rotageek offers cloud-based technology and automatic scheduling to help multi-site businesses manage and schedule staff to meet demand, drive efficiency, and reduce costs. The platform has signed large retail clients including Caffè Nero, McColl’s, White Stuff, and Charlotte Tilbury. It has also gained traction in healthcare, replacing long-established rostering solutions at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust. The company was founded by Dr Chris McCullough, Nick Mann and Roy Pounder and is based in London. Rotageek has raised £3 million in a funding round led by Volution, Calculus Capital, and Gresham House Ventures. The new capital will support continued growth with planned investment in product development, sales, and marketing to accelerate expansion and deliver more value to clients. Rotageek provides cloud-based automatic scheduling and workforce-management software that uses machine learning to identify patterns, optimise staffing to meet demand, and enable staff to swap and cover shifts via mobile apps. Its tools target multi-site businesses and are widely used in the UK retail sector by customers including Prêt a Manger, The Perfume Shop, Dune, Pets at Home and O2. The company has offered free trials of its proprietary solution to NHS hospitals and trusts to help manage complex scheduling during the COVID-19 crisis and has seen implementation across hospitals nationwide. Rotageek says the new funding will support expansion into the global workforce management market, which it values at over £3bn. Founders include CEO Dr Chris McCullough, CTO Nick Mann and Professor Roy Pounder; McCullough’s NHS background motivated the product focus on shift-based workforces. The company secured a £6m Series B to accelerate its international growth and continued product roll‑out. Rotageek provides cloud-based, data-driven scheduling technology that helps multi-site businesses predict customer demand, schedule staff, and improve operational efficiency. Led by CEO Chris McCullough and headquartered in London, the company serves high-street brands including The Perfume Shop, Dune, Pets at Home and O2. In August 2018 Rotageek raised £4m in funding, with lead investor Mobeus Equity Partners committing £2m. The company intends to use the funds to continue developing its data-driven solutions and to recruit experienced specialists in development and customer service. Following the deal the board will appoint Stuart Dawson as non-executive chairman, and Greg Blin, who led the deal for Mobeus, will join the board. RotaGeek offers a data-driven workforce-scheduling platform that optimises staff time and matches staffing capacity to customer demand. The company used data from 270 O2 retail stores to reallocate 6,300 staff hours and helped O2 save £2.5m. RotaGeek also works with the NHS and a number of smaller enterprises to optimise scheduling in healthcare and retail settings. Co-founder and doctor Chris McCullough conceived the idea while working in A&E. RotaGeek joined Telefónica’s Wayra accelerator in 2014 and was an Elevator Pitch winner in 2015. Financially, the startup revealed it raised £557,000 in July from six angel investors, on top of a £100,000 Wayra investment the prior October and a £52,000 convertible note received in July. The team aims to take RotaGeek global to simplify scheduling and deliver value to customers worldwide.
