Overview
Sary operates a mobile B2B marketplace that connects micro and small businesses—primarily grocery stores and F&B merchants—with wholesalers and FMCG brands. The company reports over 100,000 app installs and says it served more than 30,000 verified retail businesses during the pandemic. It experienced 10x year-over-year growth in 2020 and is doing about USD 500 million in annualized GMV. Sary monetizes by taking a cut from FMCG brands and wholesalers on each completed order. The startup plans to expand its geographical footprint across Saudi cities, launch new products and services, and move into new categories. It also intends to integrate third-party financial services on its platform, including lending solutions for its merchant customers, as an additional revenue stream. Sary operates a mobile-first B2B marketplace that lets mini-supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and hotels order wholesale fast-moving consumer goods (from a dozen packs to a truck) with delivery as fast as three hours. The platform currently sells and offers same-day delivery in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Founded in 2018 by Mohammed Aldossary and Khaled Alsiari, Sary shifted to a pure B2B model after originally serving consumer wholesale orders. The company reported that March sales equaled 50% of its 2019 monthly sales and said it is on track for SAR 1 billion (USD 266 million) in sales this year. Sary plans to use the new funding to develop new revenue streams, enhance its product roadmap, optimize user experience and expand its footprint. The startup is planning two new offices by year-end to serve an additional 25 cities across Saudi Arabia.
