UC Berkeley SkyDeck is the university's startup accelerator that provides funding and operational support to early‑stage startups via a public‑private partnership and the Berkeley SkyDeck Fund. The program offers portfolio companies access to 250 advisors, 50 industry partners and a network of more than 510,000 UC Berkeley alumni. SkyDeck reports that seven startups from its recent cohort raised roughly $32 million in seed funding over the past six months, including during the COVID‑19 shelter‑at‑home period. The SkyDeck Fund is supported by institutional VCs such as Sequoia and Mayfield and returns flow directly back to UC Berkeley. Since its founding in 2012, SkyDeck alumni companies have collectively raised $1.2 billion in venture capital. Participating startups span sectors including AI/ML, robotics, fintech and medtech and include Coreshell, MindsDB, iDentical, SuperAnnotate and ThinkCyte. SkyDeck highlights leveraging its global network to connect founders with investors remotely amid pandemic constraints.
