The origins of SPARX Group Co., Ltd. date back to 1989 when company founder Shuhei Abe set up one of Japan's first independent asset management boutiques specializing in Japanese equities, SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd. Since then, the company has grown exponentially as it evolved into a diversified asset management company that now covers the whole breadth and width of Asia-Pacific markets. (Mirai Creation Fund III), and Waseda University Ventures. Founded in 2022 and based in Palo Alto, CA, the company was co-founded by Nobel Laureate Shuji Nakamura, Hiroaki Ohta, and Richard Ogawa. BLF plans to complete its first prototype in 2025 and to demonstrate a commercial-ready fusion reactor by 2030. Blue Laser Fusion is developing a proprietary laser fusion technology using HB11 fuel aimed at accelerating the transition to a carbon-free electrified world. Its laser enables Mega Joule pulse energy with a fast repetition rate to achieve commercial fusion, and the company holds over 200 claims in patent applications.     Kyulux is a Fukuoka-based OLED materials startup that exclusively licenses Hyperfluorescence technology invented at Kyushu University. The company develops thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and Hyperfluorescence emitters aimed at enabling fully efficient blue emission for OLED displays. Kyulux says its technology can improve emitter efficiency and has already seen commercial use: WiseChip launched a display using Kyulux’s hyperfluorescent yellow emitter in late 2019. The company plans to accelerate OLED R&D, expand its IP portfolio, and support mass production of hyperfluorescent OLEDs by 2025. At Display Week 2022 Kyulux reported green materials would enter pilot testing in Q3’22 with smartphone mass production targeted in H2 2023, and red following in early 2024 with production by end of 2024. Kyulux develops and sells TADF and Hyperfluorescence-based OLED materials and solutions to manufacturers in the display and lighting industries. The company was co-founded in 2015 by Prof. Chihaya Adachi (inventor of TADF), Junji Adachi (CTO) and Dr. Christopher Savoie (CEO) and is based in Fukuoka, Japan. Kyulux owns or has exclusive or co-exclusive rights to a large TADF intellectual property portfolio developed over the past seven years at Kyushu University and industrial partners. Kyushu University announced the transfer of a large portfolio of TADF-related patents and took equity participation in the financing. The company intends to use the Series A proceeds to further develop TADF technology into the new standard for OLED displays and lighting.

UnaBiz is a Singapore-based Massive Internet of Things (IoT) service provider and the owner of Sigfox's technology. The company provides low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) connectivity and 0G capabilities and plans to expand its product portfolio to include more LPWAN and satellite technology. After acquiring Sigfox's tech in April, UnaBiz doubled its office locations and tripled headcount to more than 240 employees, and it closed down Sigfox's loss-making entities while bringing in new executives including a chief customer officer, chief operating officer, and chief technology officer. UnaBiz plans to target four verticals—utilities, security, facilities management, and supply chain and logistics—across Latin America, APAC and EMEA. The company said it will use new capital to prepare for its next stage of growth, focus on driving commercial activities and delivery to customers in 2023, and invest in research and development for its 0G capabilities. UnaBiz has now raised $60 million in total. UnaBiz is a licensed IoT operator and the official Sigfox operator in Singapore and Taiwan. The company provides Sigfox connectivity and sells end-to-end IoT solutions enabled by its network, along with professional consultation services to startups and corporations. It serves industry verticals including aerospace, facilities management, food and beverage, logistics, security, supply chain and smart cities. In two years UnaBiz has rolled out two national networks, built an ecosystem of over 200 partners across Asia, signed deals in over 25 countries and is connecting devices across five continents. Led by CEO and founder Henri Bong, the company intends to use the new funds to develop IoT applications that combine connectivity, end-to-end solutions and engineering services.
