Overview
Superfish develops algorithmic visual-search technology that analyzes images 100% algorithmically to find similar images in real time without text tags or human intervention. The company applies this technology to enhance the online shopping experience. Founded in 2006 by Adi Pinhas and Michael Chertok and based in Palo Alto, CA, Superfish has raised a $10m Series D. The round was led by Vintage Investment Partners with participation from existing investors DFJ and DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures. Superfish will use the funds to launch Venn, a photo-discovery and sharing solution. Venn is intended to surface visual patterns and common interests within the social graph. Superfish develops a visual search platform that allows users to use images, rather than keywords, to find other images and related information. In April the company launched Window Shopper, a browser add-on that searches for identical or similar products across thousands of sites, including Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The company is based in San Mateo, California, and operates research and development in Israel. Superfish raised $4M in a Series C round and previously raised $5.3M in a Series B in 2008. The new capital will be used to expand operations, improve market position, build channel partnerships and enhance product innovation and development.
