Swile
8 Boulevard Romain Rolland, Montrouge, Île-de-France, 92120, France
Overview
Swile offers a payment card and app to manage employee benefits such as meal vouchers, gift cards and sustainable mobility vouchers. The company monetizes through interchange fees and commissions on affiliates and has captured a 13% market share on meal vouchers in France four years after launch. Its card lets employees add a personal debit card in the app so overspends are automatically charged, unifying multiple benefits on a single payment method. Swile is building a "super app" for internal communications, anonymous surveys and feedback with potential SaaS monthly subscriptions, and acquired Briq to bolster that effort. It has expanded via acquisitions including Sweevana and Vee Benefícios, operates with 120 employees in São Paulo and aims to make Brazil its main market while eyeing Mexico. Swile plans to add payments for ridesharing, public transport and bike rides and is targeting to double headcount to 500 employees by 2022. Swile is a French startup that offers a corporate lunch card and an employee benefits app combining payments with team-culture features. It launched by replacing paper meal vouchers with a prepaid card that can link to a user’s debit card to cover amounts above daily limits. The app adds social features—celebrations, money pots, peer payments and team-building tools—moving beyond a pure utility. Swile reports 210,000 users across 8,000 companies. With the new funding it plans to expand the card to handle gift-card budgets and explore additional benefit use cases such as employer contributions to public transport. The company also plans geographic expansion, starting with Brazil this year and broader European expansion in 2021. Lunchr offers a corporate meal card and mobile app that aims to replace traditional paper meal vouchers by working in more places and avoiding terminal updates. The product supports group ordering around the office, lets colleagues add to orders for a single pickup, and unlocks negotiated discounts on large orders (app orders average an 18% discount). Lunchr reports support at 200,000 places in France. The company positions itself to capture demand as firms switch from paper vouchers—85 percent of meal vouchers in France are still paper. Existing enterprise customers include Redbull in France, LeLynx.fr, Spotify in France, Qonto and Payfit. With the new funding the company plans to accelerate adoption and target growth to attract 200,000 by the end of 2019.
