Overview

Tanso offers integrated sustainability software for carbon accounting and ESG data management, enabling structured data collection, accurate calculations, and targeted optimization. The platform is supported by AI-powered data management and provides intelligent recommendations. It helps mid-sized industrial companies comply with regulatory requirements such as CSRD, VSME, GHG, and ISO 14064. Headquartered in Munich and founded in 2021, Tanso serves more than 300 customers across 40+ countries, including Kärcher, Duravit, and the Paulaner Group. The company plans to use new funding to grow its team, expand into international markets, and develop additional modules for supply chain, compliance, and risk management. Tanso raised €12.0M in a Series A in August 2025 to support these initiatives. Tanso sells the Tanso Climate Intelligence Suite, an ISO-compliant software platform that helps industrial manufacturers calculate, manage and reduce carbon emissions at both company and product levels. Its core corporate carbon footprint (CCF) module supports continuous Scope 1–3 accounting with smart imports from ERP and logistics systems and an emissions calculation engine. The startup launched the Climate Intelligence Suite last fall and is developing product carbon footprint (PCF) tooling, including a simple PCF calculator being launched with VDMA after a 60+ company beta. Customers number in double digits and the team is about 20 people, with plans to hire specialists in life cycle assessment and data analytics. Tanso is focused on modularizing its product to support targeted CCF and PCF workflows and to add a supplier engagement module to ease data exchange. The company says the product is aimed at medium-sized manufacturers in industries such as automotive, machine manufacturing and steel production, and is preparing for growing demand driven by expanding EU sustainability reporting rules. Tanso is developing a data management platform that automates capture, storage and reporting of sustainability metrics specifically for industrial manufacturers. The product aims to generate audit-ready sustainability reports and provide traceability and transparency required by upcoming regulations. The team is still in R&D and is working with several manufacturers to identify scalable, productizable workflows for automated data gathering. Tanso raised financing to fund product development and bring a verified, scalable offering to market ahead of tightening regulatory deadlines. The company emphasizes accuracy, validation and database-level integrations to avoid shallow or misleading solutions in the market. It is positioning the product to meet requirements such as the EU CSRD and U.K. SECR and to support customers as reporting becomes auditable and a C-suite responsibility.
