Overview

Teads operates an outstream video advertising marketplace that enables publishers to create new video inventory and monetize it via programmatic buying, direct sales or third parties including Teads Managed Services. Brands and agencies access that inventory on web and mobile through programmatic or managed services, with Teads’ team executing on clients’ behalf when using managed services. The company works with large publishers including The Washington Post, Forbes, Mashable, The Guardian, Le Monde and others. Teads has a team of over 450 employees, including about 100 in its innovation team, across 26 offices in 18 countries. Founded in 2011 and led by Executive Chairman Pierre Chappaz, the company is pursuing growth through strategic acquisitions and geographic expansion. It recently raised debt to support acquisitions of ad tech companies and to expand into the Asian market, and has established a Singapore hub to drive those efforts. Teads operates a supply-side video ad platform that inserts view-to-play video ads into non-video parts of web pages (e.g., between paragraphs, slideshows, feeds), allowing publishers to monetize without producing video content. The company emphasizes a "view-to-play" model that ensures video ads only play when visible to users, addressing ad visibility concerns. Teads resulted from a recent merger of Teads and Ebuzzing and is Paris-headquartered. It says it works with major publishers across more than 40 countries and lists partners such as The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Reuters and others. The company had about 350 employees across 25 offices and reported estimated 2014 revenue close to £63.5 million, a 65% increase from £38.6 million in 2013. Teads plans to invest in its video ad technology, accelerate growth and expand into the U.S. and new markets including Brazil, Russia, South Korea and Japan. Teads provides premium publishers with video ad formats such as inRead™, inFeed™ and inPicture™ to help monetize digital content. Its publisher network includes Le Monde, Le Figaro, Financial Times, Forbes, The Economist, The Guardian, El Mundo, La Repubblica, Reuters, Yahoo! and others. Founded in 2011 by Loïc Soubeyrand, Loïc Jaurès and Olivier Reynaud, the company has about 30 employees across offices in Montpellier, Paris, London, New York and Sydney. Teads raised €4m in funding from Partech Ventures and Elaia Partners. Pascal Gauthier, former COO of Criteo, joined Teads' board. The company intends to use the funds to expand its international presence.
