Overview
Unmade builds software to enable on-demand production at scale, delivering customization, team-wear and micro-fulfilment for fashion, lifestyle and sportswear brands. The platform enables direct customer interaction with products in a way that complements existing production processes. Founded in 2014 by Hal Watts, Kirsty Emery-Laws and Ben Alun-Jones, the company is based in London. Its partners and customers have included Opening Ceremony, Farfetch, Christopher Raeburn and Selfridges. The company said it will use the new funding for global expansion, to grow its team in Europe and the US, to develop its technology and to improve service for existing customers. To date Unmade has raised £10M, with earlier backers including Connect Ventures, Felix Capital and industry figures such as Sian Westerman, José Neves and Christopher Suarez. Unmade provides a platform that lets brands offer customizable products and manufacture the results. The company works with brands to create parameters that consumers can design their individual orders within, describing the approach as curated customization that gives brands control while engaging consumers. E-commerce orders are sent directly to the brand’s factory, made and delivered straight to the consumer. Unmade’s technology integrates individual and short-run orders into existing production so individual orders can be manufactured at the same cost and speed as mass-produced items. The company intends to use the funds to expand across multiple brands, factories and geographies and to grow the team. Founded in 2014 and based in London, Unmade targets scalable customization for apparel brands and manufacturers.
