Villari aims to scale commercially and expand internationally, targeting ageing bridges, cranes and other hard-to-inspect steel assets. The company is also exploring applications in the offshore wind turbine industry where accessibility and harsh environments make crack monitoring especially challenging. The team plans to grow by hiring engineers and sales talent to accelerate deployment and scaling. Villari develops a technological sensor solution and analytics to detect cracks in steel structures with high accuracy (1–10 mm) by placing sensors in strategic locations and continuously analyzing measurements with its algorithms. The system provides permanent structural health monitoring that reduces the need for costly, time-consuming inspections and enables better planning of repairs and reinforcements. The company says its technology can help safely extend the lifetime of ageing steel assets and cut CO2 emissions from premature replacements and repairs. Villari targets large owners of steel assets such as Rijkswaterstaat and industrial producers like Tata Steel. The startup is early-stage and Delft-based; it will use newly raised capital for further development, research, and team expansion. The founding team includes CEO Olivier Baas, who researched sensor physics and structural health monitoring at TNO and TU Delft, and COO Floris Achterberg, a former project manager at Roland Berger with an MSc in Transport Engineering & Logistics and an MBA from IESE.
