ViVu develops desktop and enterprise-class video-conferencing solutions, including its VuRoom product. The company is working on a new generation of enterprise-class video conferencing applications that leverage AMD Fusion APUs. ViVu and AMD are collaborating on VuRoom and on a prototype wireless display technology to enable real-time wireless streaming of 1080p HD video from an AMD-powered notebook to network-connected displays without additional hardware. AMD, through its Fusion Fund, has made an undisclosed investment in ViVu as part of that collaboration. ViVu previously completed a $3 million Series A in October 2009 from Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Quest Venture Partners. The company is positioning its products to take advantage of AMD's APU platform for improved performance in enterprise video conferencing. ViVu offers a "video as a service" platform that lets users create live webcasts for online meetings, events, sales presentations, demos and training. Its cloud-based technology runs in the browser and can be accessed via PC, Mac or smartphone, providing an auditorium-like view suitable for large conferences. The platform includes chat and Twitter-stream integration to surface related tweets during a webcast. ViVu saves video, slides and conversations for on-demand access and provides analytics on participants' means of access, network domain, and time spent in sessions. The company faces competition from other startups such as TokBox and TinyChat. ViVu raised $3 million in a Series A that it says will be used to fund sales and marketing efforts.
