VoltR refurbishes used lithium batteries and manufactures them for a variety of applications using technologies and processes based on artificial intelligence to characterise, reallocate and reproduce cells. Launched in 2022, the company says used products retain about 80% of their storage capacity on average and that performance can meet or sometimes exceed new batteries. VoltR’s mission is to maximise the value of batteries and build a European circular economy to reduce the carbon footprint of battery production. The startup is developing a pilot plant and plans to industrialise its refurbishment processes, increase R&D investment, and recruit more talent. Financially, VoltR has raised funding to support industrialisation and R&D and has both seed capital and public/private support.
