Overview
Wrapify is a San Diego-based technology-powered car wrap company that pays drivers to wrap their cars in branded advertising and uses GPS and other technologies to track their movements in real time. The platform delivers transit-oriented out-of-home advertising by matching brands to drivers and providing movement data. Clients have included Bud Light, eBay, Lyft and Petco. The company is working with Avery Dennison to develop a short-term, easy-to-install-and-remove vehicle-wrapping film tailored to its needs. It raised $3M in venture capital from Avery Dennison and plans to use the funds to expand its sales force, technology and operations teams. At the time of the funding Wrapify operated in 29 U.S. markets with more than 40,000 registered drivers and intends to accelerate its footprint in leading U.S. cities. Wrapify operates a two-sided marketplace that connects drivers willing to wrap their cars with advertisers seeking mobile ad placements. Drivers sign up through a smartphone app, select the extent of wrapping and the advertiser, drop their car off for a free wrap, and are paid an average of $450 per month plus per-mile fees adjusted for factors like population density and time spent in traffic. The app tracks commutes and supports targeted incentives via a "Swarm" feature that lets advertisers offer bonuses to drivers to park or drive in specified areas. The six-month-old company has signed up over 10,000 drivers, is live in more than 10 U.S. cities, and reports 100% month-over-month growth. Brands on the platform include eBay, Petco, and Harrah’s Resorts. Financially, Wrapify has raised a $1M seed round and is in the process of securing a Series A.
