Xross Road is an IP infrastructure project backed by TV Asahi Group–owned extra mile Inc., aiming to streamline the discovery, production and global distribution of Japanese anime and manga properties. Its core product, HANASEE, is an AI manga-creation tool that links specialised illustration, script and layout agents to maintain character and world consistency while replicating professional storytelling techniques. The system is trained with active manga artists through a human-in-the-loop process and offers interactive editing so writers without drawing skills can turn their stories into publishable manga. A closed beta of HANASEE opened to invite-only users alongside the funding announcement. The company plans to introduce a rights-management and transparent revenue-sharing system on its platform by 2026 and is actively pursuing partnerships for IP adaptation tests and wider media mix opportunities. Financially, Xross Road has secured US$1.5 million in pre-seed capital to expand its development team and refine the tool ahead of wider release.
