Zeal Boxing Fitness, run by Tokyo-based Zeal Co., offers beginner-friendly boxing gyms under the motto “Punch and Smile – a body that moves is beautiful.” In just one year the company scaled from zero to 35 locations and has already signed franchise agreements covering all eight geographic regions of Japan. During the same period, paid membership grew roughly ten-fold, underscoring strong demand in what the company calls a blue-ocean market with only 279 boxing gyms versus 12,543 traditional fitness facilities nationwide. Zeal positions boxing as an entertainment-infused alternative to conventional workouts and plans to integrate apps, wearables, AI and even e-sports elements to enrich the user experience. With an eye toward aggressive growth, management targets a 500-store footprint by March 2028 through both franchise and company-owned outlets. Proceeds from the latest funding will bolster store roll-outs, strengthen headquarters operations, and support hiring across business development, marketing, operations and corporate functions. The company believes turning exercise from “painful perseverance” into “enjoyable excitement” will unlock a large, underserved customer base and drive continued rapid expansion.
