Overview
Zindi runs a crowd-solving platform that hosts data-science competitions where organizations post challenges and prize-winning machine‑learning solutions are adopted by the hosts. The platform has enabled projects such as air-quality forecasting for AirQo and customer‑retention modeling for Zimbabwean insurer Zimnat, and clients include Microsoft, IBM, Liquid Telecom, UNICEF and the South African government. Zindi has grown to 33,000 data scientists from 45 countries and has paid $300,000 in prize money to participants. The company also operates a jobs portal to connect its talent pool with employers and plans to add a learning component with training content to upskill early-career data scientists. Co‑founders are Celina Lee (CEO), Megan Yates and Ekow Duker. The team says it will use new funding to scale the community, expand learning content, and pursue a goal of reaching one million data scientists in Africa.
