Startupi is a Portuguese-language online publication that covers the Brazilian startup ecosystem and runs events such as Startupi Camp and Startupi Con. The site was founded in 2008 by journalist Diego Remus and angel investor Michael Nicklas. The team now comprises four people, including Remus, entrepreneur Bob Wollheim, tech journalist Amanda Demetrio, and multimedia consultant Ricardo Lima. Startupi reports about 100,000 unique visitors per month and says it plans to triple that audience. The recent financing funded two hires (Demetrio and Lima) and supports growth plans and event activities. The site positions itself as a leading voice in Brazil’s startup scene.
