Tava Indian Kitchen is a fast-casual Indian restaurant concept founded in 2011 by three college friends, operating three locations across the San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, Palo Alto and San Jose). The menu centers on made-to-order Roti Wraps (Burrotis), Rice Bowls and Salad Bowls priced around $8–$10, with all-natural chicken, grass-fed lamb and vegetarian or vegan protein options topped by signature tikka or daal sauces and five house-made chutneys. The company positions itself as a modern, mainstream approach to Indian cuisine served quickly in a fun fast-casual environment. Tava announced it closed new equity financing to expand its management team and accelerate new-unit growth. Leadership says the company will expand its footprint across the Bay Area in the near term and enter new markets beginning in 2016. Former Smashburger CEO Dave Prokupek has joined the board to support growth and brand development.
