The company will start deploying pilot vehicles this month and aims to mass produce two-wheeled EVs by late 2024. The $37.6M seed will fund continued R&D and the construction of a factory in West Java beginning later in 2023. Maka emphasizes a blend of driving range, power, usability and durability at competitive prices to replace gasoline motorcycles. The team is roughly 40 people, including hires from gasoline motorcycle manufacturers and global automotive firms.

The new funding will be used to meet growing demand from international markets, enhance technology capabilities and build out the team. Captego also announced Jeremy Sparrow as its new CEO to help drive scaling across Europe and beyond.

Founders bring domain and leadership experience — Manish handles marketing and business development and has 14+ years as a TAS officer at the TATA Group, while Aditya leads technology, finance, and product development.
