Led by CEO Guillaume d’Eyssautier, DelfMEMS develops MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems) switching solutions for RF communications. The company uses a new integrated micro-mechanical building block backed by an IP portfolio that includes seven key patents. Its switch is an anchorless, push-pull mechanical device deflected by electrostatic forces to switch RF signals. The design aims to improve insertion loss, linearity, integration, hot switching behavior, switching time and power consumption to simplify RF architectures. DelfMEMS closed $7.4M in Series C funding and intends to use the proceeds to consolidate the organization and be ready for a production ramp-up by the end of 2014. Backers in the round included FSN PME – Ambition Numérique fund, Iris Capital, VIVES, Capitalaria and early investors and business angels. DelfMEMS, founded in 2005 and based in Villeneuve d'Ascq, France, develops ohmic RF MEMS switches aimed at enabling tunability for next-generation wireless communications. Its core product is MEMS switching solutions for RF communication applications. The company raised $10.5M in a Series B to accelerate the industrialisation of its products. Management changes accompanied the round: Guillaume D’Eyssautier was appointed CEO while founder Olivier Millet will remain on the board as chief strategy and marketing officer. The company said the funds will be used to qualify first design wins and to validate DelfMEMS' manufacturing process, including thin-film packaging with a U.S. high-volume manufacturing partner. The stated goal is to support an aggressive production ramp-up of customers to penetrate the market.
