- Northbound
Led · Seed · Jul 2024
Northbound provides a SaaS platform designed to optimize operational control across the container supply chain, streamlining flows from ports to warehouses. Its software targets common pain points such as demurrage and detention (D&D), capacity constraints, and missed delivery commitments to prevent costly inefficiencies. The platform uses automation and analytics to reduce the risk of multi-million-euro D&D charges and delayed deliveries. The company plans to enhance its SaaS product and expand AI capabilities to improve operational predictions and decision-making. Northbound intends to grow its team with hires in go-to-market and software engineering and to accelerate customer acquisition. The business recently raised funding to support these product and growth initiatives.
- MeVitae
Led · Seed · Feb 2024
MeVitae offers a DE&I ecosystem of HR tools designed to detect and mitigate cognitive and algorithmic bias across hiring processes. Its platform identifies imbalances in applicant success rates, recommends targeted interventions, and provides analytics to quantify the impact of those interventions. The company serves clients across finance, government and technology, including HS2, TfL and The Good Food Institute, and has partnerships with Oracle and Microsoft. MeVitae reports clients have seen roughly a 30% increase in gender and ethnic diversity and the business grew 350% over the past 12 months while operating profitably. Founded by Oxford alumni neuroscientist Riham Satti and computer scientist Vivek Doraiswamy, MeVitae is based in the Harwell innovation hub in Oxford. The company plans to use new funding to accelerate product development and support rapid expansion into the United States and Canada. MeVitae develops an “Augmented Intelligence” recruitment product that plugs into existing applicant tracking systems to score CVs against job specs, provide a transparent roadmap for each score, and redact potentially biasing information. The system analyses every CV component, uses web reasoning and NLP to validate and identify details that could lead to discrimination, then returns ranked, anonymised shortlists inside the employer’s ATS. MeVitae’s software learns from each employer’s choices over time so recommendations become more responsive to company-specific hiring priorities. The startup’s initial focus is scaling high-volume hiring while removing unconscious bias from shortlisting decisions. MeVitae was founded by neuroscientist Riham Satti and computer scientist Vivek Doriaiswamy and is based in Oxford. Financially, the company has disclosed a £500,000 funding round and previously received about £250,000 in grants used to finance three years of R&D.
- Monolith
Participated · Series A · Aug 2021
Monolith is an AI-powered engineering platform that enables design and engineering teams to capitalise on existing CAD, simulation, and test data to predict the behaviour of future designs without new simulations or tests. Founded in 2016 by Dr. Richard Achfeld, the London-based firm emphasises democratising AI by empowering engineers to be self-sufficient in building and deploying AI solutions. Achfeld's background includes projects with NASA, Airbus and Rolls-Royce, which underpins the company's engineering focus. The platform targets engineered products across aircraft, automotive and electronics, and is already employed by major brands including BMW, Honda, Siemens and BAE Systems. Monolith says it will use the new capital to further accelerate product development. To date the company has raised £10.6 million, including the recently announced Series A.
- Monolith AI
Participated · Series A · Aug 2021
Monolith AI builds an AI engineering platform that uses machine learning to help design and engineering teams predict product behavior without running new simulations or physical tests. The platform enables companies to monetize CAD, simulation, and test data to accelerate product development workflows. Clients named in the article include BMW, Honda, Siemens and BAE Systems. The company focuses on 3D machine-learning technology to virtually predict product performance and speed product development. It plans to use the new funding to grow its international client base and continue developing its 3D ML capabilities. Monolith AI was founded in 2016 and is based in the UK. Monolith AI develops proprietary machine learning software that functions as an AI assistant for engineers, enabling design of products like cars and aeroplanes. Its software lets users create new notebooks, visualise and validate data, train machine learning models, and analyse input/output relationships in real time. The solution is available as a desktop application or deployed on private or public cloud. Led by CEO and founder Dr Richard Ahlfeld, the company has worked with engineers in the Automotive, Aerospace and Packaging industries. Monolith AI has participated in the Founders Factory Accelerator and Techcelerate Incubator programs. The company raised £1.9m and intends to use the funds to accelerate product development.
