  • Interrad Medical

    Led · Equity · Dec 2014

Interrad Medical develops, manufactures and markets medical devices designed for minimally-invasive interventional and surgical procedures. Its flagship product, SecurAcath, is a sutureless catheter securement device that the company says lowers catheter dislodgement rates, reduces replacement costs, improves site cleaning, minimizes catheter movement and may reduce catheter-related infections. Interrad also states SecurAcath decreases the time required to secure, maintain and remove catheters and eliminates needle-stick risk associated with suturing. The company is based in Plymouth, Minnesota and was founded by interventional radiologist Michael Rosenberg, M.D. Interrad recently closed an oversubscribed $7.5 million financing and plans to use the proceeds to establish a European headquarters in the Life Sciences Hub Cardiff, Wales and to expand global sales of SecurAcath. Joe Goldberger serves as President and CEO. Interrad Medical focuses on SecurAcath, a catheter securement device designed to secure and stabilize catheters at the insertion site using a small, blunt anchor deployed into the subcutaneous tissue. The device is currently available in 5F and 7F sizes and the company plans to expand size availability in the coming months. Interrad intends to use the financing to further develop and commercialize SecurAcath. Leadership includes founder, chairman and chief medical officer Michael Rosenberg, a practicing interventional radiologist, and President and CEO Joe Goldberger. The company recently hired Stephen Zielinski as Vice President of Sales; he brings over 20 years of medical device sales experience at Boston Scientific, CoAxia, Angiotech and LifeWatch Services. Interrad Medical develops a subcutaneous catheter securement system designed to hold catheters beneath the skin without sutures or adhesive devices. Last July the Food and Drug Administration approved the company’s SecurAcath Universal Subcutaneous Catheter Securement System. The device is intended to firmly hold catheters in place and, the company says, reduce catheter-related infections. According to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Interrad has raised $1.9 million from the sale of equity. The company is currently seeking $6 million in total. Interrad is based in Plymouth, Minnesota, and its board includes founder Dr. Michael Rosenberg and Stanley Hubbard of Hubbard Broadcasting.
