- RxSight
Participated · Equity · Jun 2015
RxSight commercializes the Light Adjustable Lens, an intraocular lens that can be precisely reshaped after implantation using the company’s Light Delivery Device to achieve a customized prescription. The optimization is performed in office through a series of short light treatment procedures after the lens has been implanted and healed. The company says approximately 100 leading U.S. surgeons are currently using the Light Adjustable Lens to deliver customized vision outcomes. RxSight intends to continue commercial expansion and technology innovations in the premium cataract surgery market. Financially, the company closed a $60 million senior secured term loan to support operations; the funds will be used for general working capital, including sales and marketing and research and development. RxSight is based in Aliso Viejo, California. Calhoun Vision has developed the first light adjustable intraocular lens that allows physicians to change lens power after cataract surgery. Its proprietary Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) uses light to enable postoperative power adjustments and aims to provide customizable visual outcomes. The company recently completed enrollment of a 600-patient Phase III study of its technology. Proceeds from its financing will be used to support the U.S. FDA pre-market process, advance the product pipeline, strengthen the team, and execute a commercial strategy. The LAL is investigational and is not approved or cleared for sale within the U.S. Calhoun positions itself to transform the landscape of cataract surgery for patients and physicians.
