POD Point builds electric car charging stations and operates the POD Point Open Charge Network. The company supplies intelligent charge points for locations where people park for an hour or more and has secured partnerships with Barratt Himes, Holiday Extra, and Hyundai. POD Point is pursuing expansion into mainland Europe and plans to create 50 new jobs in the UK. Its stated goal is to have a charging station installed wherever people park for an hour or more by 2020. The company is currently raising fresh funding to support that expansion and network growth. Pod Point makes charging points for electric vehicles and is rolling out a public charging network called Open Charge. The company raised £267,750 via mini bonds on Crowdcube to fund the initial rollout. The bonds carry an 8% annual yield and mature after three years. Pod Point beat its £250,000 mini bond target in 30 days and will keep the fundraiser open to overfund. It is also running a separate £1.5m equity fundraiser on Crowdcube to invest in growth and update its technology. The company has grown turnover from £1.9m to £6.5m in the last two years and has shipped over 20,000 charge points.
