Overview
Beta Capital was founded in September 24, 2003 by a group of entrepreneurs and enthusiasts for innovation with the goal of financing innovative start-ups. The company is a specialist venture capital firm investing in new technology-based projects at their early stages (seed capital and start-ups). We work in close cooperation with several Portuguese entities belonging to the Scientific and Technological National System (which includes Universities and R&D Centres) in order to foster scientific innovation. Typically we provide hands-on support to our portfolio companies by building relationships with entrepreneurs based on mutual respect and contributing with our experience to achieve success.

Founded in 2018 as a spin-out from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Delox leverages years of research in chemistry, biochemistry and materials science to tackle microbial contamination and antifungal challenges. Its core product, DeloxHP, is a patented dry hydrogen peroxide formulation that enables high-performance, human-safe biodecontamination while reducing time, cost and reliance on harmful agents. The company is also developing Delox Air, an air-borne biodecontamination solution designed for continuous use in occupied spaces. With its technology, Delox targets critical issues such as antimicrobial resistance and hospital-acquired infections across health, pharma and scientific research sectors.
