Black Ops Ventures, LLC (Black Ops), founded in 2020, is the first venture capital fund of its kind, managed and led by an all-Black team of founders. Black Ops leads seed-stage investments in Black-led tech companies and may also co-invest in Series A rounds or at the pre-seed stage. Black Ops invests in founders who are resilient, have a unique perspective on their market and possess the conviction to win their space. Managed by partners with operator experience, vast networks, and the skills necessary to help scale companies, the fund provides more than capital. In person, customers scan a QR code generated by the app; online, users manually enter a serial number and barcode to complete transactions. Cashback is primarily earned through affiliate marketing and card rewards, and StoreCash emphasizes faster, larger returns than competitors. The company reports StoreCash users earn around $900 annually just by using the app. StoreCash plans to add budgeting features to help users better track and organize their finances, and will use new capital to expand product development and the team.

The platform is designed to help businesses cut costs by avoiding mismatched suppliers while surfacing diverse and underrepresented vendors. Stimulus digitizes the procurement and vendor-relationship process based on Stanard’s 15+ years of buyer and vendor management experience. The company has attracted investor interest from strategic and institutional backers and recently closed an oversubscribed seed round. Stanard plans to use the funding to hire in sales, data and engineering and to expand partnerships and supplier diversity efforts.

Founders created the company to consolidate tools used to run internal events and to surface data on ERG impact and leader burden. With the new funding, Five to Nine plans to expand engineering, build new products, increase hiring and double its clientele. The analytics aim to demonstrate ERG ROI and highlight the work of ERG leaders often shouldering a diversity tax.
