  • The Football Company

    Participated · Seed · May 2022

The Football Company is a Munich-based web3 startup founded in 2020 by brothers Ante and Josip Kristo to create virtual football experiences. Its first product, The Football Club (TFC), sells tokens that represent analogue merchandise as 3D objects which users can equip on avatars and trade on the TFC marketplace. The platform combines fantasy gaming with real-life sports performances in a squad-management experience and issues licensed digital collectibles that generate revenue when traded. The company has released four NFT collections with partners, generating more than €270,000 in revenues in less than four weeks, with all drops sold out in under 24 hours. The fresh €2.5 million in seed funding will be used to expand into new markets, recruit employees, and set the ground to scale the sports NFT ecosystem. The startup also secured former Bayern München players Robert and Niko Kovac as founding investors and counts professional players like Joshua Kimmich and Cesc Fàbregas among recent backers.

  • Industrial Technology and Witchcraft

    Participated · Seed · Mar 2022

Industrial Technology and Witchcraft is a Berlin-based games studio focused on creating new voxel- and pixel-based games billed as featuring ‘mesmerising graphics’ and ‘epic soundtracks’. Public coverage of the studio’s precise ambitions is limited, though its artwork leans into an ’80s retro revival aesthetic. The company highlights voxel technology as a core element of its games, drawing an explicit comparison to Minecraft’s voxel approach. A requirement-drive campaign is currently running on the studio’s website, and the company says a portion of the new funding will be dedicated to that campaign. Co-founder Thilo Hardt, known for his role with Mister Spex, is credited as a key factor in attracting investor interest. Investors include High-Tech Gründerfonds, DN Capital and BLN Capital, the single-family office of Daniel Stammler, Oliver Löffler and Janosch Sadowski (founders of Kolibri Games).

  • Heritage Type Co.

    Participated · Equity · Oct 2021

Heritage Type began as a marketplace for stock graphics that designers could customize and has evolved into a platform focused on artisanal, retro-style design assets. Its core product enables users to produce detailed logos, packaging, and websites without years of training. The company plans to launch a new product called Heritage Designer to expand design capabilities to more devices. Heritage Type reports $2 million in revenue and received a €24,000 grant from the Berlin Founders Fund; it has otherwise remained self-funded. Early customers include Warner Bros, Netflix, and Hubert Burda Media. The new funding is intended to continue product development and support a broader rollout to a larger user base.
