- Layer AI
Participated · Seed · Nov 2023
Layer is an AI-powered content creation platform built specifically for game developers, offering a professional suite to build, manage, and refine 2D, 3D and video assets. The platform integrates generative AI directly into existing pipelines to reduce production time and scale content while preserving brand consistency and creative control. Layer is enterprise-ready and is used by more than 200 studios, including Zynga, Tripledot, SciPlay, Huuuge Games and Machine Zone. The founding team includes industry veterans from Unity and MIT; Volkan Gurel is co-founder and CEO and is referenced alongside co-founder Burcu. With its seed financing, Layer plans to expand the team and build additional features to support a broader range of games and production pipelines. The company is based in San Francisco. Layer AI offers an enterprise-ready, creator-first AI-assisted canvas that enables professional artists to generate images in their own art styles and iterate on them. The product focuses on 2D generation for games, targeting mobile studios first and then AAA teams. The team emphasizes style-consistent output quality and seamless workflow integrations to reduce redundant overhead for artists. Leadership is led by CEO Volkan Gurel. Layer plans to expand capabilities to generate spine and sprite animations from text, images, and other animations, and to extend into 3D workflows. The company also intends to build integrations for non-gaming workflows such as marketing and advertising. With a new $1.8M seed round, Layer will use the funds to expand operations and development efforts.
- Runway
Participated · Seed · Nov 2021
Runway offers a workflow orchestration platform purpose-built for managing mobile app releases, integrating with tools such as GitHub, JIRA, Trello, Bitrise, CircleCI, Slack and dozens more. The system automates tasks, surfaces real-time status, and coordinates engineers, product managers, QA, design and marketing teams, replacing ad-hoc spreadsheets and Slack threads. Since entering beta this spring, early adopters including ClassPass, Kickstarter and NTWRK have collectively executed more than 700 releases through the product, and the customer base has grown ten-fold to feature Gusto, Brex, Chick-fil-A and other enterprise brands. Runway charges $400 per app per month for its standard tier while offering custom enterprise pricing, and it is SOC 2 certified. Recent feature additions span automated phased-release controls, approvals workflows, changelog generation, hotfix support and granular roles and permissions. The company is enhancing onboarding to speed customer setup and is planning a lower-priced option for indie development teams. Proceeds from its new funding will expand the team with multiple full-stack engineers and a dedicated growth and marketing hire.
- Facet
Participated · Seed · Jun 2021
Facet offers a cloud-based analytics platform that connects to any modern cloud data warehouse or data technology—such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Pinot, Druid, and Segment—to surface real-time, aggregated revenue data in one unified view. The product enables both business and technical users to explore metrics collaboratively, perform root-cause analysis, and share insights without writing SQL or custom code. Founded by CEO Kevin Weatherman and Chief Strategy Officer Herman Yang, the company positions itself as agnostic to underlying data infrastructure, easing adoption across varied tech stacks. Current customers include SaaS and consumer technology companies like Branch Metrics, MobilityWare, and Catch, demonstrating early traction across multiple verticals. The platform’s collaborative features aim to break down data silos and accelerate decision-making. With fresh seed capital, Facet plans to expand operations and broaden its market reach. Although no revenue figures were disclosed, the company’s growing roster of customers indicates initial market validation.

The company says the platform is generally available and is already working with publishers such as The Meet Group, TheChive, Timehop, and Grindr, plus more than 25 major buyers. MAX was founded in 2017 by a team of former MoPub contributors and is led by CEO Dan Sack.
