    Participated · Series A · Jul 2012

Sonic Notify embeds inaudible soundwave technology into mobile apps to trigger push notifications and deliver multimedia content when the sound is picked up. The system works passively — users do not need to open an app or take explicit action for the signal to be received. The company has been tested at events including CMJ Music Festival, SXSW (#Feed house), New York Fashion Week, and was used by Mindless Behavior at the Beacon Theatre. Sonic Notify has partnerships with Interscope Records, Spotify, Turntable.fm and Mobile Roadie (used by some 3,000 apps with over 20 million downloads) to broaden adoption among musicians, promoters, developers and brands. The startup has about a dozen employees, is headquartered in New York City with a remote business development office in Los Angeles, and plans to make its technology widely available to Interscope artists. Financially, Sonic Notify announced a $4.25 million financing to support its growth and partnerships.
