pHathom Technologies, founded in 2024, is a Canadian climate-tech company building a platform that captures biogenic CO₂ from coastal bioenergy and industrial plants and converts it into stable dissolved inorganic carbon that naturally occurs in seawater. The treated water is then returned under closely matched conditions, eliminating the need for pipelines, long-distance transport, or geological injection while operating within current industrial footprints. The process is engineered for high standards of scientific measurement and third-party verification, aiming to deliver durable and auditable carbon removal credits. pHathom is piloting its technology through the $16 million Bioenergy Carbon Capture and Marine Storage Project backed by Canada’s Ocean Supercluster. Market validation includes selection for Frontier’s advanced purchase of carbon-removal credits and recognition as Foresight’s 2025 Atlantic Canada Startup of the Year. Financially, the company has secured more than $12 million in committed capital, including a recently closed $4 million seed equity round. The fresh funds will accelerate pilot deployments, expand scientific monitoring, and support regulatory engagement for broader commercialization.
