Genisphere LLC, based in Hatfield, Pa., develops the 3DNA® DNA-based nanotechnology platform for targeted drug delivery. The 3DNA nanocarriers are engineered and cross-linked DNA structures designed to deliver small drugs, biologics, and nucleic acids. Preclinical data have shown cell-specific (cytosolic and nuclear) delivery with functional intracellular effects and no apparent toxicity. Key milestones reported include tumor targeting, selective killing of targeted cells, tumor shrinkage, transport across the blood-brain barrier, and excellent biodistribution profiles. Genisphere leverages a collaborative model, with more than 25 collaborations (including a research agreement with MultiCell Technologies and projects with large pharmaceutical companies) to generate preclinical data. The company plans to advance its own lead oncology compounds and to expand partnerships using the 3DNA platform.
