  Polatis is a developer and self-described world leader in all-optical switch technology. Founded in 2005 through the merger of leading optical technology companies from Cambridge, Massachusetts and Cambridge, UK, the company is based in Andover, MA. Its core products are all-optical switches for modern fiber-based networks, targeting growth markets such as datacenter interconnect, carrier networking and government systems. Polatis said it will use the $2.7M in venture capital to accelerate new product development, further ramp in-house manufacturing capability, and expand business development resources. The funding was provided by the company's existing investors. Investors named include Flagship Ventures, JK&B Capital, DFJ Esprit, Encore Ventures, Alta-Berkeley Ventures, Massachusetts Technology Development Corp., Prism VentureWorks and Gainesborough Investments.
