Overview
Enterprise Angels is a membership-based investment network. Members make individual investment decisions but do so together drawing on each other’s experience and expertise. This approach increases the returns from and success of investments. Their objective is to connect experienced investors with entrepreneurs and innovators. Since launching in 2008, Enterprise Angels has facilitated the investment of more than $40m in more than 80 early stage and established businesses across a variety of industries. Enterprise Angels members will consider investing in businesses from all industry sectors and at any stage of growth, from seed to post-revenue. However they invest most actively in things they can ‘kick’ – innovative businesses in the agriculture, dairy, horticulture, engineering, food and clean tech industries. The experience they can draw from in their member pool is vast and crucial in helping many early stage businesses and concepts grow to their full potential.

Wellumio develops a portable neuroimaging platform called Axana that uses patented PGFM (pulsed gradient–free mapping) technology to deliver rapid MRI-based stroke assessments at the point of care. The technology is designed to operate without contrast agents, cryogenics, or shielded rooms, enabling use in critical care settings. The company completed initial human feasibility trials and received a U.S. patent for its technology in December 2025. Wellumio is progressing toward regulatory approval and plans expanded clinical evaluation across additional sites and geographies. The company is led by co-founder and CEO Dr. Shieak Tzeng and is based in Wellington, New Zealand.

Linca is a spin-out from Mint Innovation that has developed a process for refining critical minerals—lithium, nickel and cobalt—recovered from end-of-life electric vehicle batteries. The company is leading a consortium with Jaguar Land Rover, LiBatt Recycling and WMG at the University of Warwick to demonstrate domestic refining capabilities in the UK. Linca has secured an £8.1 million APC26 UK grant alongside equity funding to support its formation and has completed a NZ$5 million first close of a seed round (expected to reach NZ$7 million) led by Motion Capital with participation from Icehouse Ventures, K1W1, Booster, Aspire and Enterprise Angels. The seed proceeds will be used to scale up the technology and construct a UK demonstration facility to prove the concept of domestic critical mineral refining. The spin-out officially launched after under three years of development within Mint Innovation.

Founded in April 2024 by Dan Bull with cofounders Paul Sealock (founding engineer), Daniel Stuart-Jones (CTO) and Ursula Haywood (CCO), Scanabull builds a computer-vision platform that estimates live cattle weight using the LiDAR sensor on an iPhone. Its first product, WeighApp, enables farmers, stock agents and veterinarians to scan animals in yards, pens or near gates and deliver a weight estimate in seconds. The model has been trained on over 100,000 animal data points and is designed to improve as more scans are captured. Scanabull is conducting trials and demonstrations across New Zealand and is piloting with industry partners including Silver Fern Farms, with plans to expand to Australia and other major beef-producing regions by year-end. The company says the technology aims to reduce supply-chain inefficiencies caused by visual weight estimates and to provide earlier weight visibility for processors and traders.

Zenno Astronautics is a New Zealand-based developer of superconducting technology for space applications. The company builds an innovative satellite attitude control component that uses superconducting technology to efficiently generate a magnetic field with small energy loss. Its component is smaller than conventional counterparts and offers advantages including generation of high-efficiency torque with lower power consumption. The company is led by a CEO who has studied space applications of superconducting technology for many years. The announcement says Mitsubishi Electric’s ME Innovation Fund has invested to help boost Zenno’s competitiveness and to study and evaluate the technology with a view to applying it to Mitsubishi Electric’s satellites. The article does not disclose operating metrics or funding amounts. Zenno Astronautics builds electromagnet-based attitude control and propulsion systems that use high-temperature superconducting wire to generate strong magnetic fields for torque and maneuvering. Its first product, the Z01 Supertorquer, interacts with Earth’s magnetic field or other spacecraft to point satellites and enable inter-satellite operations like docking or debris removal. The company says the system is about 20 times smaller than traditional propulsion hardware and is compatible with many existing spacecraft. Zenno is targeting an orbital demonstration in Q4 2023 and plans a production facility with capacity for 1,000 electromagnetic systems per year. The startup has secured firm sales agreements with U.S. satellite owners worth “several million dollars” and a constellation commitment in the pipeline. The team has grown to 11 full-time employees and the company has recruited industry figures to its board and advisory team.

Cetogenix develops systems to convert organic waste into renewable energy and other bio-based products. Its flagship product, CETO-Boost, is under development and aims to increase renewable natural gas production by 40% when retrofitted to existing anaerobic digestion plants. The technology targets applications across agriculture, food processing, sewage treatment and industrial manufacturing wastes. The company positions its solution as complementary to other technology providers and is leveraging technical and commercial partnerships in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and Europe. Cetogenix raised $4.5M in seed funding to scale up and deploy its sustainable waste-to-energy technology. The company intends to use the funds to aid global decarbonisation efforts by scaling and deploying its systems.
