  Nyad is an AI-powered decision support platform designed for wastewater treatment plant operators. The software delivers real-time biological insights and troubleshooting guidance to help teams diagnose issues early, maintain regulatory compliance, and run facilities more safely and efficiently. It tackles an urgent industry problem, as nearly half of the U.S. wastewater workforce is expected to retire within the next decade, leaving a significant knowledge gap. Since its commercial launch, the company has worked with utilities ranging from large metropolitan networks to small rural plants across the United States. Founded in 2024 by British entrepreneurs Virginia Szepietowski and Christopher Braithwaite, Nyad is headquartered at Innovation Depot in Birmingham, Alabama. The firm recently secured $1.3 million in pre-seed capital to fund hiring, customer acquisition, and continued product development as it scales nationwide.

  Jana Care develops a digitally connected point‑of‑care platform that enables real‑time testing using fingerstick blood samples at home for management of heart failure, chronic kidney disease and diabetes. The company is developing quantitative tests for NT‑proBNP, potassium and serum creatinine—biomarkers critical to managing kidney and heart disease patients. Jana Care says it will use the new funding to expand development of its quantitative blood testing platform. It has established a product development and production facility in Bangalore, India. The company is led by CEO Anh Hoang‑Lindsay and is based in Watertown, MA. Jana Care recently completed an initial closing of a $6M financing round.
