Extellis designs and plans to operate satellites built to capture high-frequency synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery, with the company claiming each satellite can capture thousands of images per day using patented antenna technology developed at Duke University from DARPA-sponsored research. The platform is intended to provide consistent monitoring that works at night and through clouds, smoke and other conditions that limit optical imagery. Extellis targets infrastructure operators and industrial companies—such as pipeline, transportation and energy facility operators—that need frequent, wide-area visibility of distributed assets. The company is preparing a pathfinder mission to test technology and operating capabilities ahead of broader commercial service and is building the infrastructure required to serve industrial customers. Extellis recently expanded its seed financing with investment from Shell Ventures to support the pathfinder mission, team expansion and progress toward commercial operations. Bedrock Energy develops deep-bore geothermal systems that reach roughly 800–1,200 feet to deliver more land-efficient heating and cooling for commercial customers. The company targets commercial buildings where land is at a premium and has completed two installations to date: an office building in Austin, Texas, and a resort in Utah. Bedrock has begun exploring geothermal cooling for data centers and partnered with Dominion Energy last fall to study that application, while noting technical challenges such as continuous heat rejection and wider bore spacing. It says deep geothermal cooling can be about twice as efficient as water- and air-based cooling at peak conditions and can reduce electricity demand spikes. To support growth, the company is investing in expanding operations and research and development with a focus on automation to speed installations. Bedrock Energy builds ground-source heat pump systems by drilling boreholes roughly 1,000–2,000 feet deep to increase per-bore heating and cooling capacity for tall or land-constrained buildings. Zanskar combines artificial intelligence, modern drilling techniques, and computational geoscience to find, assess, and develop geothermal energy resources. The company has a portfolio of greenfield geothermal projects, including the Lightning Dock site in New Mexico and recent discoveries at Pumpernickel and Big Blind in Nevada, plus two announced discovery sites in Nevada. Financially, Zanskar completed a $115 million Series C in January 2026 (later expanded with additional investment from Just Climate) and has now closed a $40 million revolving Development Capital Facility structured to scale to $100 million. Zanskar plans to use the new facility to fund pre-construction work and bridge projects to traditional project financing so it can rapidly build multiple geothermal power plants. The company aims to deliver gigawatts of clean, firm power to U.S. customers and expects to create hundreds of jobs as it scales development. Zanskar markets its approach as making geothermal more predictable, lowering development costs, and enabling large-scale deployment of dispatchable baseload power.
