The company positions itself as an online alternative to fragmented, offline agents that charge fees, push high-commission programs, and rely on archaic processes. Halp offers coaching support for free and says it drives above-market placement rates while helping students graduate with less debt at scale. The platform aims to make studying abroad more accessible, simple, affordable, and effective for international students. Looking ahead, Halp’s stated vision is to become the infrastructure, bank, and teacher for the next billion global learners, bundling coaching, banking, learning, and job placement. The company was founded by Matthew McLellan, Marc Fielding, and Justin Mills. Halp provides affordable, one-on-one college admissions coaching through a platform that combines a personal plan, monthly digital activities, and coach interaction—mostly over text. The company positioned itself for students who need more than a school counselor but cannot afford private counseling. Halp completed the XX accelerator by Wefunder while operating in beta and reports paid membership growth of threefold, a 90% retention rate, and an NPS of 83. Every student in the accelerator cohort received offers from at least one target school, and several obtained prestigious scholarships. Current plans funded by the pre-seed include hiring engineering, product, operations, and coaching staff, launching a limited 250-person extended beta cohort, improving the student-facing platform, and marketing/onboarding across the U.S. and Canada.
