Overview
The Growth Company’s two Angel services, Co-Angel Investment Service and North West Business Angels have recently merged creating a more cohesive offer, enabling increased access to early stage equity funding. The service now known as GC Angels, supports businesses seeking access to angel investment, ranging from £25,000 up to £2m. Developed by GC as the next evolution of its successful Co Angel Investment Service, GC Angels forms part of the GM Combined Authority's response to supporting the early stage investment market, and integrates with the range of wider GC business finance and business support services. It will incorporate the network offer (NWBA); the fee-bearing advisory service (Co Angel) alongside the new GM Co-Investment Fund, providing an innovative, single solution equity funding service.

Gaia Learning was founded by Kate Heath after building a solution to support her neurodivergent daughter and has grown into a 24-person national online alternative provision for children with additional needs. Its core offering includes tailored education services and Bloom, an SEND infrastructure platform that helps schools deliver, track and evidence student support. Bloom is in pilot in Northern Ireland with more school pilots beginning in September and plans for international expansion. The company has a strategic partnership with Pearson Edexcel. Following its first post-accelerator investment, Gaia Learning reported 94% revenue growth while costs rose 22%, and it is forecasting 60% growth for the year ending January 2027. The founder and company have received recognition including the Great British Entrepreneur Award 2025 – Technology Entrepreneur (North West).

Founded in 2022 by property developer Phil Melia, Breezemove provides a platform that manages the full property transaction process, improving communication and accountability among estate agents, solicitors and buyers. The company says its platform has halved transaction times and cut the likelihood of sales falling through by more than 90%. Breezemove is operating across Birmingham and Liverpool and has begun onboarding estate agents in Greater Manchester, with plans to expand into Leeds, London and Bristol. The business employs eight people and intends to scale its workforce significantly, recruiting sales, technology, data scientists and product talent. Recent funding and accelerator support are being used to enhance the technology platform and accelerate national expansion.
