- AGILE STUDY
Participated · Series A · Nov 2025
AGILE STUDY delivers a “coaching × technology” learning program that blends the latest educational theory with IT, AI and other EdTech tools to personalize study plans for students. This approach has produced a 90 % academic improvement rate, far above the roughly 20 % seen at typical cram schools. The company addresses Japan’s ¥1 trillion cram-school market and the ¥500 billion home-learning segment, which together comprise about 50,000 classrooms nationwide. Growing student enrollment pushed revenue up 277 % year over year. Management intends to scale through a mix of company-owned classrooms and M&A of operators it can upgrade. The fresh capital will reinforce its balance sheet and fund this expansion, positioning AGILE STUDY to modernize the country’s education sector. Including the latest round and a follow-on raise planned for July 2025, total funding stands at ¥1.4 billion.
- Forest
Participated · Series B · Oct 2025
Founded in July 2021, Forest operates a roll-up model that inherits and scales Japanese “monozukuri” (craftsmanship) brands through M&A, having completed 21 acquisitions in its first four years. The company differentiates itself from earlier global roll-ups by minimizing dependence on online marketplaces and instead leveraging in-house retail-tech and omni-channel expertise to re-structure and cross-sell its portfolio. Its cross-border EC site “Omakase” already carries about 14 brands and ships curated Japanese products to customers in 64 countries and regions. Recent tuck-ins include smartphone-accessory labels OVER’s and ガラスザムライ, leather-goods brand GRAV, outdoor line CREEB, shoe-care label ROSY LILY, retail-tech firm Tsuzucle, and 60-year-old RC-car maker YOKOMO. Forest keeps original founders involved in roughly 80 % of its acquired companies to preserve product DNA while unifying back-office, logistics and marketing under a centralized “backbone.” The firm seeks targets with strong craftsmanship, steady demand and clear upside once Forest optimizes marketing, logistics and cost structures. Capital from the new raise will be used to fund additional acquisitions and to expand its retail-tech capabilities.
- ElevationSpace
Participated · Series A · Jul 2024
ElevationSpace is developing the ELS-R series re-entry satellites and the ELS-RS high-frequency cargo recovery service to return payloads from orbit to Earth. The company is close to completing assembly of AOBA, its first private re-entry satellite and the inaugural ELS-R model. ElevationSpace leverages Japan’s small-satellite lift-guided re-entry expertise for returning payloads and crew from space. It has pursued global partnerships, including an agreement with Axiom Space and plans to integrate Redwire’s biopharma technology into its platform. Financially, the company has raised $63.5 million in total after securing $40 million in its Series B. Management framed the funding as supporting expansion of domestic and international business and service development under its vision of building an in-orbit transportation network.
- Gotoschool
Led · Series A · Nov 2023
Gotoschool provides physician‑supervised, exercise‑focused therapeutic programs through its LUMO children’s centers and operates LUMO+ employment‑support services. Its LUMO program targets children with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and other developmental challenges using an exercise curriculum designed to integrate primitive reflexes and stimulate underdeveloped brain areas. As of the article, Gotoschool operates 14 LUMO locations across Tokyo, Saitama, Hyogo and Osaka, with plans to expand to 29 locations by July 2024 and 49 by July 2025. The company is accelerating openings, launching LUMO+ services, and strengthening management and hiring (therapists, childcare staff, rehabilitation specialists, and finance/strategy personnel). Financially, Gotoschool completed a ¥40 million third‑party allotment and reports cumulative Series A funding of approximately ¥360 million. The company says proceeds will be used to accelerate store openings, build out the LUMO+ service, and prepare management systems ahead of an IPO.
