  • Three Farmers

    Participated · Equity · May 2022

Three Farmers Foods produces whole roasted bean snacks and related plant-based products using a proprietary dry-roasting technique. Its product portfolio includes five product lines such as roasted chickpeas, roasted peas, roasted lentils, whole roasted fava beans and camelina oil. Products are locally sourced, processed and packaged in Canada and are positioned as high-protein, high-fibre, gluten-free, nut- and peanut-free and vegan with lower fat than competing brands. Three Farmers sells in retailers across North America, including national chains Loblaws, Sobeys, Whole Foods and Walmart. The company plans to expand manufacturing in Saskatchewan and to grow distribution across Canada while accelerating market penetration in the United States. Management emphasizes sustainable practices and making whole-bean snacking a staple in North American households. Three Farmers Foods sources local products from Saskatchewan family farms and adds value through proprietary local roasting technology to produce Three Farmers Camelina Oil and a roasted snacks line (roasted chickpeas, roasted peas and whole roasted lentils). The company emphasizes sustainability and traceability, offering a 'Farm to Fork' product code that connects consumers to how products are grown and made. Its products are sold in over 4,000 retailers across North America, including national grocery chains and online via Amazon. Founded by three farmers alongside Natasha Vandenhurk (CEO) and Elysia Vandenhurk (Chief Revenue Officer), the company has grown from local roots while keeping sourcing and processing local. Three Farmers plans to continue expanding product lines, markets, customers and distribution channels from its Saskatchewan base and to grow its global presence. A recent investment led by Golden Opportunities Fund in partnership with Export Development Canada is intended to support that growth and further drive the company's value-added agriculture innovation.

The company reported $270,000 in revenue last year and says it is on pace to generate $5 million in ARR in 2022, having already exceeded last year’s revenue in the first two months of 2022. StoreToDoor employs 18 full-time staff, works with roughly 400 delivery drivers, is hiring six more roles, and plans to expand into British Columbia and scale nationally in 2022.

  • Precision AI

    Participated · Seed · May 2021

Precision AI develops drone-based computer vision and robotics to provide fully autonomous spraying and crop protection solutions for small to large farms and machinery manufacturers. Its platform deploys swarms of AI-driven drones that apply herbicide only to individual weeds, aiming to optimize every square inch of farmland on a per-plant basis. The company says the approach can reduce pesticide use by up to 95% while maintaining crop yields and save farmers up to $52 per acre per growing season. Precision AI positions its technology as lower-cost and scalable to large-acreage row crops versus competitors focused on high-value, low-acreage crops. Future plans include deploying hives of intelligent drones to automate crop protection throughout the growing season and integrating supply-chain traceability and proof of sustainable farming practices. Founded in 2018 and based in Regina, SK, the company recently closed a financing round to advance its platform.

  • Taiv

    Participated · Seed · Mar 2020

Taiv installs proprietary edge hardware in bars, restaurants, and similar venues, using computer-vision models to detect when a televised game cuts to commercial and replacing the national spot with venue-specific or paid programmatic ads in under 100 milliseconds. The system supports advanced features such as “sports-moment targeting,” allowing advertisers to trigger creative based on real-time game context and audience sentiment. The network now spans nearly 5,000 venues across North America and has maintained almost 3× year-over-year growth. Advertisers on the platform include major brands such as T-Mobile, Fox, Google, FanDuel, and Pepsi. Headcount expanded from about 30 to 85 employees over the past year, with plans to add roughly 25 more, primarily in sales and product. To date, Taiv has raised more than $30 million in capital and is valued at just under $100 million, giving the company resources to fund additional hardware and accelerate nationwide rollout.
