  • FutureMoney

    Participated · Seed · Oct 2024

FutureMoney is a Boston-based digital micro-investing platform that helps families invest for their children and create generational wealth. Founded in 2023 by fintech veterans Philip Barrar and Dave Fortin, the company’s signature offering is the Junior Roth IRA™, a proprietary, tax-advantaged account service that leverages 529 plans and can transition to a Roth IRA after 15 years. Accounts are held with Pershing | BNY Mellon and carry $500,000 of SIPC insurance. The company plans to use the new funding to drive user acquisition through social platforms, influencer partnerships, curated affiliates, earned media, and a double-sided incentive program. FutureMoney was selected for the gener8tor Insurance & Wealth accelerator in partnership with Allianz Life and Securian Financial. The product aims to make investing more inclusive and accessible to the average family by providing a tax-advantaged, transitionable account tailored for minors.

  • PointOne

    Participated · Seed · Jul 2024

PointOne's platform runs in the background as lawyers move between apps, filling in time entries with client, matter, descriptions, and standardized legal codes. The company says it encrypts stored sensitive data, does not train models on firm data, and offers firms the option to run models in a private Azure environment. PointOne's cofounders include Katon Luaces and Jeremy Ben-Meir; a third cofounder, Adrian Parlow, left last year. The startup reported a tenfold revenue increase since July after signing dozens of law firm customers, from large global firms to solo practitioners. PointOne has positioned its product as a way to capture previously unbilled time rather than primarily saving lawyers' time. Its largest competitor noted in the articles is Laurel, which has raised over $150 million compared with PointOne's roughly $20 million total raised.

  • Summit

    Participated · Seed · Apr 2024

Founded in 2022 by Davis Gilbert and Josh Pillsbury, Summit Commercial Solutions operates as a technology-driven commercial insurance brokerage serving thousands of Canadian businesses. Its core offering combines traditional brokerage services with proprietary software, data infrastructure, workflow automation, and an AI-powered compliance tool called Summit Sherpa, which modernises risk verification and policy management for property managers and corporate clients. The company positions itself as a platform for entrepreneurial brokers, aiming to increase producer productivity rather than replace them with automation. Since IA Capital’s initial investment, Summit has more than doubled its top-line revenue and expanded into group benefits while building internal wholesale capabilities. With the latest funding, Summit plans to open new offices across Canada, deepen its talent-acquisition vertical, and enhance its data and AI capabilities. The capital will also support the launch of new divisions in Group Benefits, Private Client, and a delegated underwriting authority ecosystem to offer comprehensive commercial, personal, and embedded insurance solutions.

  • WindBorne Systems

    Participated · Seed · Jun 2023

Founded in 2019, WindBorne Systems collects atmospheric data with long-duration balloons and low-cost sensors and uses that proprietary dataset to power AI-based weather forecasting models. The company operates about 20 launch sites globally and typically has roughly 600 balloons in the air, collecting measurements from hard-to-reach areas including storm eyes. Its data customers today include the U.S. National Weather Service, and it runs research partnerships with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. WindBorne is expanding its sensing toolkit with aerial sensor packages that can fall into the ocean and continue collecting data as floating buoys. Management reports growing revenue and highlights the proprietary dataset — which CEO John Dean called a "planetary nervous system" — as a moat for its models. The company plans to invest in compute, communications upgrades, and a larger go-to-market team to scale commercial sales to private-sector customers.

  • Anja Health

    Participated · Seed · May 2022

Anja Health, led by founder Kathryn Cross and based in Los Angeles, raised $4.5M in a seed funding round. The company is a personalized doctor-backed cord blood bank that freezes umbilical cord, cord tissue, and placenta stem cells for future disease treatment purposes. Anja sends expectant parents a collection kit ahead of birth; after delivery users call the number on the kit and a medical courier picks up the collection kit anywhere in the United States and delivers it to a lab within 72 hours for processing. The service is compatible with up to two minutes of delayed cord clamping. Processed samples are stored in liquid nitrogen for long-term preservation. The company says it will use the funds to bolster its executive team, drive strategic growth, and continue to foster its community and reach and inform parents-to-be.
