  • wamly

    Led · Series A · Jul 2026

Founded in 2018 by Francois de Wet and later joined by Marnus Broodryk, Wamly has evolved from a video-interviewing tool into an integrated hiring platform that bundles one-way video interviews, applicant tracking, skills and psychometric assessments, and background checks. The platform is used to assess candidates in 147 countries and is positioned as a software-first solution for scaling hiring processes. Wamly emphasizes augmenting recruiters’ work rather than replacing people, a stance highlighted by its lead investor. With the newly raised Series A, the company plans to expand its AI capabilities across the hiring workflow, grow its team, and enter new international markets. The fundraising and investor backing aim to support Wamly’s scaling ambitions and broader adoption beyond South Africa.

  • Spatialedge

    Led · Equity · Apr 2024

Spatialedge is a data and applied artificial-intelligence startup based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, founded in 2017 and led by Retief Gerber. The company provides tools and a team of engineers to help organisations develop, integrate, and deploy machine-learning solutions into business systems. Spatialedge says it has worked with many multinational enterprises in Africa and has seen exponential revenue growth exceeding R300 million (about $15.77M). Its product focus is on improving enterprise operational decision-making, with ambitions to transform the retail industry. The new capital is intended to accelerate product launches, expand research and development, boost the product lineup, and reach more customers.

  • GoMetro

    Participated · Series A · Nov 2023

GoMetro builds Bridge, an OEM-agnostic telemetry and data-aggregation platform that consolidates vehicle data from different makes and models into a unified API service. The company offers pay-per-use telemetry, monthly subscription products (including a connected tire kit, smart camera system, and data hub), and ETA and operations-monitoring features to identify bottlenecks. GoMetro serves a network of over 15,000 vehicles, including about 1,000 electric vehicles, and partners with 60 trucking and logistics companies. Over the past 12 months the company says revenue has doubled and it aims to triple revenue by the end of next year; it plans to integrate more than 2,000 electric vehicles and 50,000 diesel vehicles in the coming year. GoMetro is working with vehicle OEMs, expanding engineering and distribution teams, and focusing on electric bus and truck management as fleets electrify. The company is expanding operations in the U.K., Europe, South Africa and targeting the U.S., Latin America, Australia, and the Middle East in the next 12 months. GoMetro offers a mobility management platform that digitises entire fleets and integrates telematics, IoT and big data to optimise routes, predict arrivals and provide real-time supply-chain insights. The company says its platform can help operators save up to 30% in operating costs by increasing vehicle utilisation, controlling excess mileage and reducing back-office costs. Customers have reportedly increased the certainty and accuracy of delivery windows by 50%. GoMetro plans to use new funding for key hires and continued investment in platform, product engineering and development. The start-up sees additional opportunities in fleet management and is positioning its solution to compete in global markets. Management is targeting accelerated expansion in South Africa and entry into the UK and US markets. GoMetro operates a big-data platform and is launching flx, a door-to-door ride-sharing service that can integrate cabs, minibuses, buses and trains. The company says flx competes kilometre-for-kilometre with minibus taxis on price while offering shared, door-to-door trips. Internal testing has run with about 15 staff members, and GoMetro plans a 100-person corporate trial beginning in February. The startup cites studies (the Lisbon study) to argue its model could cut congestion and emissions substantially. GoMetro was accepted into the Telefónica Startup Accelerator and is targeting a launch in Milton Keynes, UK toward the end of next year. The company is also looking to raise €5 million from European investors to support expansion. Investors already include Tritech Media, AngelHub Ventures and 4Decades Capital; Derek Prout-Jones serves as chairman.

  • Snapplify

    Led · Equity · Sep 2019

Snapplify provides elearning solutions and is Africa’s largest ebook aggregator and distributor, offering over 350,000 titles from more than 250 publishers. The company serves over 1,400 schools, colleges and universities and claims to provide digital access to more than 200,000 students. Its product suite includes integrated learning tools and the Snappbox hardware distribution solution that enables schools with limited or no connectivity to access materials while saving data and download time. Snapplify works with governments and education departments to roll out elearning materials across the continent. The company raised $2 million in expansion capital to accelerate international expansion and to advance its data analytics capabilities aimed at improving classroom teaching effectiveness. Launched in 2011, Snapplify builds technology to distribute digital reading material primarily to schools and universities. Its platform allows users to access ebooks via institutional intranets rather than downloading individually over the internet, addressing patchy broadband and textbook-delivery problems. Snapplify has signed major publishers including Penguin Random House, Pearson, Oxford and Cambridge, and has won awards such as the Future Book Awards for its Snappbox distribution hub. The company is expanding its product and team across multiple countries and is actively entering markets including Brazil, Argentina, Kenya and Nigeria. Leadership says Snapplify is increasingly looking at payments and remittances and is managing a lot of money to better distribute its product. The roadmap and international expansion aim to increase accessibility to content in African education markets while protecting digital rights.
