Founded in 2017, Israel-based Upstream Security offers a cloud-native platform that monitors telematics, mobile app, over-the-air update and V2X traffic to detect and block malicious messages before they reach a vehicle. The company also runs a Vehicle Security Operations Center (VSOC) that gives automakers and fleets a real-time, bird’s-eye view of their connected assets. Upstream’s system currently safeguards nearly four million connected cars across six OEMs operating in the United States, Europe and Japan. Management plans to leverage its data pipeline to launch additional products in insurance telematics, predictive analytics and business intelligence, broadening revenue streams beyond core cybersecurity. The addressable automotive-cyber market is forecast to more than double to $4 billion by 2025, providing ample runway for growth. To date the company has raised $105 million in venture funding, including the new Series C round described below.
